Hi, it's Michelle!
I know - you were probably expecting a third-person, formal biography starting with the fact that I was born in Ft. Worth, TX. Well, I've never read an author's biography and thought, "Wow! Are you serious? She's from Fort Worth! Man, I've gotta read her book!" So, I thought it might be better to just let you meet the real Michelle Stimpson. (Click here if you simply must know the formal stuff.)
So here's my back-in-the day writing testimony...
I started writing when I was in sixth grade. Mrs. Newman, my music teacher, let us have a talent show once every six weeks. My ongoing play was entitled "Big Sisters and Little Sisters" and it starred my best friend, Jill Miller. Folks, this was a serious play. We practiced during recess.
The summer after my sixth grade year, my life took a tragic turn when my mother was involved in a bad car accident. I started keeping a journal to deal with the pressures of suddenly being thrust into the role of mother to my two younger brothers, whole coming of age without my mother at my side. In the midst of all that, God gave me writing as a form of comfort. I realize now that He must have read every single word I wrote because the Holy Spirit comforted me as I poured my little heart out onto those spiral notebook pages.
Here's an entry from when I was thirteen:
June 14,19(eighty-something)
I am in the prime of my life and all I do is clean up all day!
(Now that you've read my diary, we should be FB friends, right?)
Even after my mother regained her health, I kept on writing. And writing. Here's a picture of all my journals circa 2009:
Anyway, all that writing turn into a serious passion.I thank God for preparing me to write novels through the worst period of my childhood. Then again, He's been known for turning tests into testimonies!
Everything I write has a little bit of humor (or at least I like to think so), while causing people to think about serious issues. This, of course, lines up with my personality. I think if you asked my friends, they'd say I'm a fun person. I love to laugh and enjoy life. But at the same time, I'm serious about things that matter most, like faith, family, and fulfilling God's plan for my life. I'm honored to share my gift through so many various forms - writing, teaching, mentoring. This is just flat humbling.
I hope you'll be blessed by the books and stories flowing from these fingertips. So now that you know the REAL me and you've actually read my diary, we should at least be Facebook friends, right?
God Bless!
